Board Minutes - June, 2007

The Defiance County Democratic Party board meeting was held on June 18th 2007 at 7:00PM at the UAW Hall.  There were 12 members in attendance and the excused members were Lisa Beecher, Steve Pryor, Henry Diehl, Howard Troeppe, Penny Bakle, Pat Slattery, Pat Walter, and Mariella Pardo. The guests present were Michelle Domsky and Dan Bohn.

Donna Hitzemann read the roll call.

The minutes were read and approved.

Wayne Olsson presented the treasurer report.

Don Keeterle presented a report on the Fort to Port.  There was another ground breaking on the next leg of 24.  He thanked a lot of people in the area for helping to make this happen.  Vic thanked Don for all his help and attending the meetings with him.

Charlie Gray will be attending a union Conference in Cleveland and they will bring all presidential candidates from the parties.

Bev Peterson discussed the newsletter being prepared for mailings.  The mailing is hoping to deliver to 4000 people.   Bev is recommending precinct committee persons to hand deliver the letter, and it would be a great way to meet people.  She is looking for volunteers to pass out the literature in the vacant precincts.  There was a discussion concerning the newsletter and possibly ways to pay for the mailing.

Michelle Domke was informed of possible dates for having the governor come down for a fund-raiser.

Michelle thought passing out the newsletter would be a great idea.  She also is hoping to build support in every county and to make contacts for the upcoming election.  The County party will be in charge of it and she is looking for a volunteer to start it up.

The Henry County is having a hog roast on Tuesday June 26th at 4:30.

Communications:
There is a list for all commissioners and boards that still need to be appointed.  Please contact Vic Vogle about this.

Tim Holtsberry did not receive the appointment at BGSU.  He was up against some tough competition; the appointee is very capable.

The fair is August 18th to the 25th and please be ready to volunteer your time.

Michelle will have photos and literature together for the fair to give to us.

Charlie Gray motioned to proceed with the vote of the appointees to the committee, Jim Schoch and Dan Bohn.  Marianne Bakle seconded and the motion passed.

Tim Holtsberry motioned to adjourn and Charlie Gray seconded, and the motion passed.
