Board minutes Defiance Democratic Party - Sept 2007

The Defiance County Democratic Meeting was held on September 17thth 2007 at 7:00PM at the UAW Hall.  There were 19 members in attendance. The guests present were Charlie Bakle and Roger Molnar.  Donna Hitzemann, Dan Bohn and Steve Pryor were excused.

 

Vic passed an attendance sheet around.

 

The minutes were read and approved with one correction.

Charlie Gray presented a by-law committee report.  The next meeting he will have a written copy of the proposals.  The committee consisted of Charlie Gray, Howard Troeppe, Don Keeterlee, Vic Vogel, and Brenda Griffith.  This will be submitted in October and voted in November.  There were several questions concerning the new proposals.  These changes will be available on the website.  

 

Tim Holtsberry discussed having a fall fundraiser; the date was set for October 18th.  Pat Walter and Tim will handle the specifics of the dinner with assistance.

The recent open position left by Congressman Gilmor’s passing was discussed... The procedure for the election process and if there was a need for a primary for this seat.

Bev has yard signs for Robin available.

 

Charlie Gray discussed a meeting he attended that was called by the Allen County Chair.  There will be more jobs available for Democrats.  There was a change in how appointments were made for state offices and vacancies are not available until a political appointment vacates their position...  The positions of managerial were moved into the classified section.

 

Tim Holtsberry reported on the ballot for Defiance.  The independent candidate received a party affiliated ballot in the spring primary.  When the election occurs in November there might be a possibility of having to vote twice that day.

 

Bob Armstrong reported on the process of his re-election process.  He needs sign locations. He also requested if anyone have any wires available he would like them.  Bob discussed if he needed to register in the parade or if he can be with the Democratic float.  The police department is not endorsing any candidates.  He stated that Jim Schock will need help with his ward. 

The Halloween parade was discussed and the availability of the float. 

 

David Plant informed the committe of all the upcoming plans for the Homecoming parade being planned for the Defiance College.  There will be fireworks, hog roast, speakers and many more events.  Please come out and enjoy the festivities.

 

Henry thanked Bev for passing on information. He was surprised to hear about the Darfur region genocide.  He is so glad that information is being passed on that is not addressed in the newspapers.  Please contact the White House hot line to ask for a peaceful solution from the United Nations.

 

The Steering Committee report recommends to endorse Robin Weirauch for congress and to donate $200 for her campaign.  Charlie Gray motioned to accept the steering committee recommendations.  Howard Troeppe seconded and the motion carried.

 

Charlie Bakle’s union will be having an endorsement for the next election.  They will have screening here tomorrow night at 6:30 pm.  Several candidates plan on attending.

 

Denise Gray discussed the progress of Robin Weirauch campaign.  She discussed upcoming events that she is participating in.

 

Pat Walter motioned to adjourn and Wayne Olsson seconded; the motion carried.
